A small businessman has filed a case against five people, including Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Kotwali Police Station Mizanur Rahman, on charges of extortion. Tuesday (December 22) Metropolitan Magistrate Abu Sufian. Noman took cognizance of the case and directed the Metropolitan Intelligence Agency (DIB) to investigate.

The other accused in the case are Kotwali Police Station Sub-Inspector (SI) Anisul Islam, Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) Khairul Islam, Shahidul Islam and alleged police source Delwar Hossain.

Earlier, on November 17, small business. Rahim filed the case in the court. The court accepted the plaintiff's statement and ordered an inquiry today.

According to the statement of case, Rahim, a small businessman, was returning home after work on the evening of October 12. At around 8 pm, three unidentified persons stopped him on the Chunkutia Bridge of South Keraniganj Police Station. They identified themselves as members of the Dhaka District DB Police. Rahim said there was an arrest warrant in a case in DB. Later they took Rahim to a shop and searched him. However, he could not recover anything from her.

They then took Rahim out of the shop and took him to Babu Bazar Bridge. SI Anisul Islam, ASI Khairul Islam and Source Delwar were present there. The three took out the yaba they had and complained that it had been obtained from Rahim.

At that time ASI Anisul Islam said, if you don't want to be trapped, then quickly collect two lakh rupees. If not, I will arrange the drug dealer and hang him in the case. To avoid this, Rahim handed over a heavy gold chain and Rs 13,000 in cash. Unable to pay the demanded two lakh rupees, they took Rahim to the police station around 9:15 pm. After contacting the family, Rahim gave them Rs 50,000. At around 11.40 pm, OC Mizanur Rahman called Rahim and told him, "I saved you." I filed a small case, I can come out in a day or two.

It is further learned from the complaint that despite receiving the demanded money, Rahim was sent to jail through the court with a case of 10 pieces of yaba. Rahim, a small businessman, was released on October 30 after 17 days in jail.
