His comrade Afshar Ali Mandal has been accused of embezzling lakhs of taka from the indigent and disabled freedom fighter Kalipada Sarkar in the name of allocating government house 'Bir Nibas' for the freedom fighters in Naogaon. Kalipada has not yet received any remedy even after filing a case in the court seeking refund in this incident.
Meanwhile, he has lost his way while paying the installment due to the loan from the bank. Freedom fighter Kalipada came to Manda Press Club on Friday afternoon and made these allegations.
It is learned that Kalipada Sarkar, son of late Gumani Sarkar of Raipur village in Mainam union of Manda upazila took part in the liberation war. At that time he was shot in the head by the Pak aggressors. Due to this he loses his hearing.
Kalipada said the government has announced in 2019 that indigent freedom fighters will be given a house called 'Bir Nibas' at a cost of around Tk 16 lakh. On October 6 of that year, Manda Upazila Muktijoddha Sangsad Commander Afshar Ali Mandal snatched Tk 1 lakh from Kalipada Sarkar saying he would get Bir Nibas within six months. Kalipada borrowed the money from the local Sonali Bank in monthly installments. At that time, Afshar Ali took another Rs 5,000 from him in the name of approving a loan from the bank. But he wants to return the money if he cannot allocate Bir Nibas in the name of Kalipada government even in the last one year. From then on, Afshar Ali continued to harass and harass Kalipada in various ways. At one stage, the Kalipada government filed a case against Afshar Ali on November 26, demanding a refund. The court directed the Manda police station to record the case as soon as it was received. Meanwhile, the report of the case reached the police station on December 2, but the case was recorded by Manda police station on December 13 due to mysterious reasons. Case No. 20, 13 December, 2020.
Freedom fighter Kalipada Sarkar said, "I have given a loan of Tk 1 lakh to Afsar Ali Mandal in good faith." It was said that in 6 months I would be given Bir Nibas home. But even in the last one year, Afshar Ali could not make a hero in my name. On the contrary, they are harassing me in various ways. In this situation, there is no remedy even after filing a case in the court.
He alleged that the police had not taken any initiative so far even though the police had received the report of the case sent from the court on December 2. Even though Afshar Ali is walking around in public, the police are not saying anything to him. On the one hand, I am apprehensive about justice, and on the other hand, I have lost my way when it comes to paying monthly bank installments. Again, I am in extreme insecurity with my family due to the threats of the influential Afsar Ali's friends.
However, former Manda Upazila Muktijoddha Sangsad commander Afshar Ali Mandal has denied the allegation. "I was not in charge of the commander at the time the allegations were made," he said. Moreover, there is a committee to build houses for the freedom fighters. According to the decision of the committee, the indigent freedom fighters will get houses. I am not a member of that committee. A mahal is trying to frame me by making baseless allegations.
Manda Police Station OC Shahinur Rahman said the case was recorded on December 13 under the direction of the court and the investigation is continuing. Necessary steps will be taken once the investigation is completed.
