A boat supporter named Sujan Mahmud (37) died when he came to watch the municipal elections at Chatmohar in Pabna. He died of a heart attack near the Enayetullah Senior Fazil Madrasa Center in the municipal town around 10am on Monday. The deceased was identified as Shah Mahmud of Natabaria village under Bilchalan union of Sujan upazila.
Witnesses said Sujan Khan was standing with party leaders and workers outside the center in Baluchar Math area on Monday morning. Suddenly he fell to the ground. He was rushed to the Upazila Health Complex where the on-duty doctor declared him dead. Chatmohar Upazila Health Complex doctor Mahmudul Hasan Khan said Sujan Mahmud died of a heart attack before being brought to the hospital.
Confirming the identity of the boat supporter, Saidul Islam, general secretary of Chatmohar Upazila Juba League, said, ‘Sujan was standing with us. He came to see the vote. Sujan suddenly fell to the ground and was taken to hospital. The doctor on duty there declared him dead.
Officer-in-charge (OC) of Chatmohar Police Station Aminul Islam said the body of the deceased was handed over to his relatives after an inquest.
