19 Jamaat leaders and activists have been arrested from Gorgram in Nilphamari. Police said they were holding a secret meeting for the purpose of sabotage.
They were arrested from Nagarband Jame Mosque in Kitarnia Para of Gorgram Union of the upazila around 10am on Tuesday.
Among the detainees are Naib Amir Abdul Aziz of Sadar Upazila, Gorgram Union President Humayun Kabir and Secretary Rashidul Dewan.
Confirming the matter, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Nilphamari Police Station Abdur Rauf said they were holding a meeting to carry out sabotage activities. During this time, 8 motorcycles, 4 bicycles and some jihadi books were recovered from them.
